ACCESSIBILITY CHECK was founded in January of 1995 by Teresa L. Darr and Douglas W. Darr as a response to the Independent Contract Provider (ICP) program established by the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation (TDLR). The firms original focus was TAS plan reviews and inspections, checking for compliance with the Texas Accessibility Standards TAS. From this foundation the firm expanded services to encompass a variety of services centered on accessible design and compliance issues involving other accessibility laws and standards.
In January 2026, the ownership of the firm was transferred to Holly Respondek, RAS#39 who has been with ACCESSIBILITY CHECK for 15 years. Holly has 30 years experience as an accessibility specialist previously working for TDLR as well as owning her own firm.
The services of ACCESSIBILITY CHECK has returned primarily to the firm’s original focus of TAS plan reviews and inspections. We still offer existing building and facility assessment reports and accessibility consultation services.
